Chlorine Analysers & Chlorine Test Equipment

Chlorine residual proves that disinfection is working through the network. Free chlorine is the active disinfectant; total chlorine adds combined forms such as chloramines.

LimitSANS 241: free chlorine ≤ 5 mg/L (chronic health). Most utilities target a residual well below this.

Common questions

Should I use a DPD analyser or an amperometric sensor online?

DPD analysers are the reference method and suit compliance monitoring but consume reagents. Amperometric sensors respond quickly and suit dosing control, but need stable pH and flow and regular verification.

What is the difference between free and total chlorine?

Free chlorine is hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite. Total chlorine is free chlorine plus combined chlorine, mainly chloramines. Combined chlorine is total minus free.
